Shopping has begun!

Hello friends!
My Christmas shopping has officially begun!  Yesterday I got a small start on it!  Now, to find a hiding place for the things I have picked up so far.
I have to tell you all about my hungry little friends.  I have at least 3 squirrels who will come to my kitchen door and take an oatmeal cookie right out of my hand!  Now, I buy these cookies, just to feed to the squirrels, but I am surprised that now 3 will come right up to the door to get them.  The bad part is, if I don't see them out there, there is at least one who will actually climb up the door!!  And on up the screen, clear to the top of the door!  Is he looking in to see where the cookies are?  I have told Don to look outside before he opens that door, otherwise the little guys are liable to come on in to help themselves to the oatmeal cookies!  If I ever get a chance I will snap a pic of the little guy on the door before I chase him off of it.
I hope you are all having a great week!
Happy Scrappin!

Winter is coming!

Yup, it's true, winter is right around the corner...or shall we say DOWN THE ROAD!  We have been having rain for a day or two now, and this morning there was even snow mixed in with it!  The kids loved it, and wanted to go out and play in it, but I explained to them it was too warm to stick around and was melting as it hit the ground.  Sure we will get snow soon enough for them to play in!!

Tomorrow is my son's birthday.  He'll be 31 this year....where has the time gone?  Happy Birthday tomorrow Josh!

Happy Halloween

Wow, it's almost Halloween!!  Where is this year going?
I was thinking about past Halloweens this morning and some of the costumes I had as a child.  Naturally I couldn't remember most of them, but one that always stands out in my mind was the year I was a ghost.  Now, remember, growing up on a farm, there wasn't a lot of trick or treating to do, but I did go to the school Halloween parade one year as a ghost.  I used a white sheet (of course, what else would a person use for a ghost!) but I also wore my brand new white GO-GO BOOTS!!!!!  I was so proud of those boots and that was probably the only reason I was a ghost that year!!  Wish I had a picture!!
What was your favorite costume?

Hope you make lots of great Halloween memories to scrap!  BOO!!

Christmas countdown box

Hello everyone!  Thanks for stopping by my 'little craftin corner' today!  Grab a glass of tea (just made a fresh pitcher) and take a look around.  I just finished the project I worked on last weekend at a crop and am quite pleased with it.  It is for my grandkids out in CO, so please, shhhhh, don't tell them about it cause they won't be getting it until I stuff the 25 drawers with goodies and mail it to them!  And that could take a while, but they don't need it until Dec anyhow!!
Here is the box, all nicely done!

The box I bought in Davenport, Iowa, at Scrapaganza.  That store is packed with the most wonderful stuff!!  I could spend hours in there looking at all the neat things!  Anyhow....the box is by KaiserCraft and is their 25 Drawer Treasure Chest.  First thing I did was put the outside together, and painted it with J's Craft Essential Christmas Green Acrylic paint.  Then while it was drying I started putting all 25 of the drawers together, glueing them with Zip Dry glue.  I painted them with the green paint after the glue dried.  Then came the fun part...covering all 4 sides of the drawers with pretty Christmas papers from my stash.  I glued those down with Modge Podge.  Once they were done, I put a coat of modge podge over the outsides of the drawers.  Then I started embellishing!  The numbers were all painted with Golden Goddess Glimmer Glam from Tattered Angels.  (I like how they turned out.)  I used all kinds of ribbons, button, charms, tags and other stuff to embellish the drawers.   I also used assorted stamps and black ink to stamp images on the sides and top of the box.

Side:
 Top:

I really like how the box turned out and hope my grandchildren will be excited and will use it year after year!

Stop back by soon!  Oh, and please take a minute to leave me some love and maybe feed my fish.  They are feeling neglected!!

Happy Craftin!

Welcome friends from Crafting by Designs!

I am so embarrassed!  If I had known I was going to be the featured blog on CRAFTING BY DESIGNS I would of tried to make a newer post on here!  Welcome to all my friends dropping by from there.  Grab up a glass of tea and relax for a while.  There isn't a lot to see here, but I hope you will find something of interest to you.  Come back and visit often, and become a follower if you would like!!

I just spent most of the weekend at a crop out at a former girl scout camp, which is now Camp Summit, run by Christian Friendliness.  They rent the camp out on weekends during the off season and this is about the 3rd or 4th time I have gone to a crop there.  I don't spend the night, since it is close enough to drive back and forth, but I enjoy going out there, especially this time of year.  The trees were absolutely beautiful this year.  We even saw a few deer along the way, which is always nice.

I worked on something I am making for my son and his family.  It isn't finished yet, so I don't have pics.  I will be posting some when I get it done though, so by all means, come back to see it.  I am quite pleased with the progress on it so far and think the kids especially will love it!

6 kids at the daycare today and right now all are sleeping soundly, so I think I will take a little break myself and head to my scrappin room for a bit of relaxation!!

Thanks for stopping by, and HAPPY CRAFTIN!

Altered Box

Hello everyone!  Thanks for stopping by my blog today.  Grab up a glass of tea and a cookie or something and check out the box I just got done altering.  I went a week or two ago to our local Goodwill shop, where I found this nice sized wood box.  I think it originally had 3 bottles of wine inside of it, which should give you an idea of about the size of it.  I covered it with papers from a K and Company stack I got at JoAnn's here in town, using modge podge for adhesive.  I have a couple bubbles and wrinkles, but I figure that just gives it that homemade look!  After covering the entire box, I put a coat of modge podge over it again for protection.  Then came the hard part of trying to decide how to finish it off!  After looking at the box sitting there for a few days I went into my craft room with a couple of ideas of things to look for.  I was gonna put some bling on it, but decided to use these things from a pack of K and Company Ephemra.  I added ribbon and flowers from Prima and a piece of lace from Basic Grey.  I like how the box turned out, and will use it to transport some of my scrappin stuff to crops!

I love those little Prima flowers!!
I guess I am going to have to stop by Goodwill more often, or start hitting some fall yard sales cause I sure enjoyed working on this box!  I do have to tell you all though, Don said he thought the box was cuter before I added the paper...a comment which I will NOT let him forget he made!  Now he owes me big time for that one!!  Next time I just might go to the jewelry store to get my box!!!

Thanks for stopping by!  Feel free to feed the fish, and by all means, leave me some love!.  Always nice to know who came in and left the cookie crumbs on the floor!  Stop back in soon, I enjoy the company!

my backyard today

Hello!  I just wanted to post some pictures I took this morning in my back yard while the kids were playing outside.  My Autumn Clematis is in full bloom, full of aroma and bees!!

The one of the wheelbarrow I posted on my neices blog, which I posted a link to below in an older post.  My dad made the wheelbarrow for me from boards that were in my grandpa's old barn!  Love it!!

Enjoy!

SLACKER alert!!

Hello everyone!  I am posting to say that I am sooo sorry I have become a slacker!!  It has been way too long since I posted here at my little craftin corner.  Sometimes we just get busy though, and that is what happened.  Sorry, I will try to do better in the future!

Earlier this month I did some CROPPIN WITH MY FRIENDS.  I hosted a weekend crop here and invited my Cricut Message Board friends.  WOW...was it ever....fun, wonderful, inspiring, interesting, educational, yummy, great, and did I say WONDERFUL?  There were door prizes too!  And, bless their hearts, they all gave me a big paint bucket full of goodies as a Thank-you gift!  It even had the Autumn Celebrations cartridge in it, and the DCWV Ghosts and Goblins 12x12 stack, among a LOT of other things!  Before I post a group picture we had taken (thank-you to Candy's dh for taking the pics with all our cameras!) I want to give a GREAT BIG THANK-YOU to my mom, Randi and Kim for all their help with the meals and setting up and cleaning up!  I soooo appreciated it and love you all!  And, THANKS TO ALL MY FRIENDS WHO CAME TO CROPPIN WITH MY FRIENDS 2011!!  I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did!

I'll try to get some pics taken of the lo's I did to post soon!

Thanks for stoppin by my Little Craftin Corner.  Come back soon and next time bring along a friend!
Happy Scrappin!

Hello eveyrone!  Thanks for stopping by my blog this morning.  Grab a cup of tea and relax for a bit with me!

flower layout

Here is a lo I did today of my busy little grandaughter.  Last year when we went to visit them she kept picking flowers out of Jessica's flower bed, and giving them to us, or putting them on our clothes or in our hair.  Such a busy little girl, but she did stop long enough for Jess to put some pretty ones in her hair too!  The DP is from Fancy Pants Designs and everything else is just from my stash.

Home from vacation!

Hello everyone!
We got home late last night from a great vacation in Colorado visiting Josh, Jessica, and the kids.  We had a wonderful time, they had a couple of great spots for us to go visit.  One day we spent at Heritage Square Amusement Park, which was just the right size for the kids!  (Kim, Andy, and Joey went with us)  All three kids had so much fun riding the rides.  Who knew Kaitlyn would love the Tilt-A-Whirl so much!!  And while we were there, I got to go down the Alpine Slide with Carson!  What an  awesome thing to do!  Here are a couple links to the park:
Heritage Square  and the slide

We also went to Echo Lake, which is absolutely beautiful!  We walked all the way around the lake and the view was always breathtaking!  Here is a picture of one side:

Another highlight of the trip was when Jessica, Kim and I went to Archivers!  I love that store!!  I got some neat things to try, including an Imaginisce Petal Roller, a thing of Inky Antics Honeycomb paper, Jillibean Soup corrugated shapes and frames, and even some Tim Holtz kraft Glassine (glazed paper stuff!).  And of course several other things that look fun and challenging!  I am off the rest of this week and hope to spend a good deal of that time in my craft room!!

Of course my favorite part of the whole trip was spending time with family!  My grandchildren are just the best kids around and we had so much fun together!  They are growing fast and with two of them living in Colorado, I savor every moment I can spend with them while they are young!

So now you all know how I spent the past week!  Thanks for stopping by my little craftin corner, hope you enjoy your visit and come back often!!

Special waves today to my friends from CRAFTING BY DESIGN!!

Perspective

You know how sometimes it is interesting to see what everyone's different perspective is on something?  Well, my neice, Randi, has started a blog for photography called OUR OWN PERSPECTIVE .  She is gonna post challenges on it based on a word or subject, and anyone can post a picture they have taken that shows their perspective of it!  Doesn't that sound like fun?  Even if you aren't a photographer I think it will be fun to look at everyone's pictures and see their perspective!  You can check her new blog out HERE!  And anyone can become a follower, whether you participate or not!  Be sure to leave her some lovin while you are there too!

NEW CARDS

Here are a couple of cards I made recently!  The first one is the one I made for my June Bug Secret Sister, the wonderful AmyMLT.  Of course I used a Tilda, I colored with Copics, on it.  Pretty much everything is just from my stash as far as paper and lace and stuff.  I hope she liked the card!

This other card is one I made to have on hand.  It is a Bildmalarna image called Little Mimosa.  She, too, is colored with copics markers.   Everything I used on this card is also from my stash.  I made the little tag using my Making Memories tag maker!  It gets neglected often and shouldn't cause it is a great tool!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.  Grab a glass of tea and relax a bit, feed my fish, play my game, and maybe get a little inspiration.  Come back soon!

Happy Scrappin!

June Bug Blog Hop

Hello everyone!  Welcome to my stop on the Jumpin June Bug Blog Hop!  If you are following along on the blog hop from the beginning, you have arrived here from Doodles blog.  She is such a sweetie!  She was my partner this round on the June Bug Swap and sent me the greatest pkg of goodies!  Here is a picture of what all she sent me:
I can't wait to start playing with it all!!

I have a couple different flowers I made recently to show you all.  This first one is made with a fabric softner sheet!  (It sure smells good!)  I have inked the sheet with Tim Holtz Distress Ink dried marigold.  Then I just freehand cut out circles and used a scallop circle punch (not sure of brand) for the smaller ones.  Poked a hole in the centers and inserted a brad!  Easy Peasy!

These next flowers were made with white tissue paper!  I inked it, this time with CTMH honey and hydrangea and again the TH dried marigold.  Then I freehand cut 4 each of 2 sizes circles for each flower.  Punch the hole in the center, add a brad, and then I crinkled them, one layer at a time, towards the center.  Uncrinkle them and there are your flowers!  Too easy!!

My last project is a work in progress.  I colored this fishing shack with my copic markers and then wanted to add clouds above it.  I took stickles (baby blue and waterfall) and put drops of them on the cardstock.  I then took a can of air (yes, just air...like you would use to dust your computer keyboard!) and gave it puffs of the air on the drops and they kinda blew upword, towards the top of the cardstock...kinda like puffy clouds!  I think the idea is great, but I will definately need to practice more!  I hope to eventually have this shack on a card (thinking a stair step card) with the new Tilda and Edwin fishing from the newest collection from Magnolia.  I also plan to put flower soft on the flowers in the flower boxes.

Now...how about a little blog candy?   I am giving away 2 CTMH ink pads (Blush and Hollyhock)!  All you have to do is become a follower of my blog if you aren't already, and leave a comment here on this post!  I will use a random number generator on Monday morning to pick the winner!!  Good Luck!

Feel free to look around my blog as long as you would like.  I don't have a lot of posts but hope you will find them interesting!  Also, feed my fish if they are acting hungry, and feel free to stay and play the game at the bottom for a while.  Beware though, it is a little addicting!!
After you are finished here, the next stop on the June Bug Blog Hop is Skrappindiva.  I am sure she will have something really cool to show you!

Just incase you have stopped by my blog and are just starting the blog hop, below is the line up for it.  I am in this swap group on the cricut message board (hosted by 2 awesome hostesses, Jana and Julie) with these wonderful and very talented ladies (plus a few more who dont have blogs yet) and we have a lot of fun together.  You can't ask for a better group of friends than these Jumpin June Bugs!  Happy Hoppin and thanks for joining us on our blog hop.

Happy Father's Day Dad!

Here is the card I made for my dad this year for Father's Day.  I find it very hard to make 'man' cards, but was pretty pleased with this one.  I started out coloring an Edwin, but just didn't have the perfect one for my retired farmer dad so gave up on that idea.  Then I put my thinking cap on and came up with this idea.  I used cheesecloth that I inked, a Tim Holtz stamp, and pretty much everything else is just from my stash.  I think my dad liked it when I gave ito him while ago.  We had a nice lunch at their house today and both my sisters, my brother and myself were all there to help him celebrate the day!  Any my mom too, and some of the grandkids and great grandkids.  Family gatherings are always so nice!

Happy Father's Day Dad!

This picture of me and dad was taken one Sunday at church.

crop this past weekend

Hello Craftin Friends!

Hope you all had a great weekend.  Mine was too short, but they always are!  Saturday I went to a crop to benefit Relay For Life.  It was fun, and I actually got a couple lo's done for a change!  I am working on my pics of our trip to CO last summer to see Josh and his family.  Joey went with us and this is a lo I did of the boys playing out in the back yard.  Nothing fancy but I liked the way it turned out.  Hope you enjoy it too!

The paper I used is Jenny Bowlin, the letters and numbers were cut out on the cricut, and the leaves I free handed.

Rainy, dreary, perfect for craftin day!

Hello everyone!  It is sure a dreary, rainy day here!  This kind of day is perfect for 2 things...either curling up on the couch under a blanket and watching tv...or crafting!  (I think all days are perfect for crafting though!)  And since I have to work, the whole curling up on the couch thing just won't happen!
Easter is coming up fast.  Seemed like we were all grumbling cause it was gonna be so late this year, but now...here it is just a few days away.  I hope you all have your Easter bonnets picked out, and your eggs decorated!  (how many of you used silk ties to do them like my friend Cindy showed in her Blog Hop post?)  I am thinking when Joey comes over tomorrow night we just might have to try those.  Then he can take some to his teacher on Thursday!  Hmmmm......
Have a great day and if I get any craftin done I will be sure to post pics!

Bashful Bunnies Blog Hop!!

Hello, and welcome to my little corner of the Bashful Bunnies First Ever Blog Hop!

If you are following along and started at the beginning, you just came from my friend Lisa's blog at Cuttle Fairies Express.  Isn't she talented!

We are all part of a group of paper crafters who signed up for a swap that Jana started for St. Patricks Day on the Cricut message board.  It was a fun, secret sister type of swap and we all got to know each other and just couldn't stand for it to end, so we convinced Jana and Julie to keep it going with this Bashful Bunnies swap.  One thing has led to another and now here we are having a Blog Hop!  I never even had a blog till I started hanging out with these Bunnies! We also do a lot of enabling in our group.  The main thing is, we have a LOT of fun and have become very good friends.

When they started talking about doing this blog hop, they decided since it was Spring and near Easter that we each should make something to show on our blogs with one of those as a theme.  I don't do a lot of 'altering' of things, so I decided to make a card.  This is Tilda With Armful Of Tulips, from the new Butterfly Dreams Collection.  Isn't she pretty with all those tulips!  Everything else is from my stash.  I even used paper scraps!  The butterfly is a pretty one that Danielle sent me in the last shoebox round I did on the cricut mb.

This next card I made I just couldn't resist posting.  This image reminds me sooo much of my grandaughter, who will be turning 4 next week.  I got the image in a swap and can't remember what it is, but I will do some begging and see if I can find out what it is!  Everything else on this card is from my stash too.  (I have a LOT of stash!)

And now ..... Did I hear someone say BLOG CANDY?  I have some blog candy to give away!!  All you have to do to get a chance to win my blog candy, pictured below, is to become a follower to my blog if you aren't already, and to make a comment in this post.  Tell me in your post (along with any other comments you might have!) WHAT DOES YOUR DH/SO/FAMILY THINK OF YOUR SCRAPBOOKING/CARDMAKING HOBBY?            I will announce the winner of my blog candy on Monday morning!

                                                                MY BLOG CANDY

Thanks for stopping by MY LITTLE CRAFTIN CORNER during our Bashful Bunnies Blog Hop!

Easel card

Here is an easel card I made a while back.  It is the first, and I think only one, I have ever made!  I should try more of them someday, as it wasn't that hard.  This one has a Tilda on it.  Incase you hadn't noticed yet, I love my Tilda stamps!  You will see a LOT of her on my projects.  I hope my coloring is improved from when I did this image too.  I am taking an online copics class at the SSC site and it is really helpful!

Every summer I go to Wisconsin to a Quilt Retreat with my sisters for a long weekend.  Although I have made a few quilts, I prefer to scrapbook while there!  (There are usually 3 or 4 of us scrappers among the quilters!)  Each year I take a little gift for my sisters and these journal  jars are what I made for them last year.  The jar contains journal prompts about their childhood, dating, married life, being a parent, and being a grandparent.  Each day they are to take out one prompt and write in their journal.  Eventually the books are to be handed down to their grandchildren, which they all 3 have now by the way!  I enjoyed making the jars and journals for them and I think they all really liked them!  (Now I just hope they are using them!)

feed my fish

Please don't forget to feed my fish while you are here visiting!

wedding cards

Here are some wedding cards I have made.  The first one was for my neice and her new hubby. 2nd one is for them from their son.  the red heart on the front of it is actually his handprint on the inside done with red paint.  Last one is for one of my former daycare children when she got married.

Welcome to my little craftin corner!

Hello everyone!  Thanks for stopping by my new blog!   I hope you will join me for a glass of tea and sit back and relax with me.
My hobby is scrapbooking and card making and I hope to show some of that here.  I don't do fancy stuff, and I am not by any means a professional, but I enjoy doing it and that is what matters the most to me.
Along with that, I will probably do a little bragging about my beautiful grandchildren too.  They mean the world to me and once I get started talking about them it is hard to get me to stop!
I will try to post some pictures of my favorite projects I have done in the next few days.  Feel free to comment and you are more than welcome to become a 'follower'.  This whole BLOG thing is new to me, so please be patient as I figure it all out!
Come back to My Little Craftin Corner soon!
